On occasion, Five Acres receives cats that do not desire an indoor lifestyle. We call these cats “Barn Buddies” and look to place them with adopters that can support their needs.

Barn Buddy cats are usually outdoor-living, independent cats. They rely on their caretaker to have a suitable outdoor structure for them (shed, barn, farm, outbuilding, etc.) as well as provide them with daily food, water and basic veterinary care.

Barn Buddy cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and ready to help maintain a rodent-free environment for you. We generally aim to adopt them out in pairs or groups, so they have company.

It is important to note that adopting a Barn Buddy is still a responsibility, and the adopter will be providing necessary care to this cat throughout their life. In return, you are providing a home to a cat in need!
